Children's doctor at clinic in Clapham killed 'on way to her patients'

Children's doctor killed while cycling to her patients in Clapham

A paediatrician killed in a collision with a lorry "died on the way to her patients" in Clapham, her parents have said.

Doctor Marta Krawiec, 41, was found with life-threatening injuries after the collision in Theobalds Road, Holborn, at around 8.55am yesterday (Wednesday August 4).

Despite treatment, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dr Krawiec was cycling to the clinic in Clapham where she worked as a paediatrician. In a statement, Dr Krawiec's parents said: "Marta lived helping other people every day. She died on the way to her patients.

"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved daughter and sister.

"We thank all the witnesses who are helping people in their investigation."

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries. No arrests have been made.

Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan said: "We continue to appeal for any witnesses to come forward to police.

"Were you driving through the area between 08:50hrs and 09:00hrs? Did you witness the incident or might you have captured dash cam footage?

"A woman has sadly died and it is vital we speak to you. No piece of information is insignificant."
