Coronavirus cases fall across Clapham

Coronavirus cases have fallen across Clapham and its surrounding areas, reveals new data released today.

In Wandsworth and Lambeth, the two boroughs Clapham straddles, Covid-19 cases have dropped by 198 and 78 people respectively in the last seven days recorded.

Focusing on the borough of Wandsworth, between August 26 and today (September 1), 757 people were tested positive for coronavirus. Compared to the previous seven days, this is a decrease of 21%.

Over the same seven days, neighbouring Lambeth saw 864 people test positive for Covid-19 which equates to an 8% decrease in cases.

In England there were 239,702 new cases confirmed in the same time frame which at 313 Covid-19 cases per every 100,000 people is fewer than Wales (422), Scotland (692) and Northern Ireland (610). The UK as a whole has 357 cases per 100,000 people – higher than local rates in London or more locally still, Clapham.

Whilst at 313 Covid-19 cases per every 100,000 people means there are fewer Covid-19 cases in England than Wales (422), Scotland (692) and Northern Ireland (610).

Wandsworth and Lambeth coronavirus deaths latest figures

It is impossible to determine exact coronavirus deaths due to how the data is recorded and reported.

Based on the information available, since August 1 2021, 14 people in Wandsworth died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus. Four of these deaths occurred between August 26 and September 1, which is 33% increase over the previous seven days.

In Lambeth, 12 people died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus since August 1 2021. Based on data released by Public Health England at 4pm today, we know one of these deaths occurred in the last seven days, which is a decrease of 75% compared to the previous week.

Wandsworth and Lambeth coronavirus vaccinations latest figures

By the end of August 31 there were 231,927 people in Wandsworth who had received their first vaccination and 207,094 who had received their second.

In Lambeth, 215,998 people had received their first dose by the end of August 31 and 188,929 people had received their second vaccination.
