Clapham Omnibus Theatre hosts Out of the Wings' annual festival
Out of the Wings 2021
Out of the Wings' annual festival returns to Clapham's Omnibus theatre tomorrow
The Omnibus Theatre in Clapham will this week host the fifth annual festival of Spanish and Portuguese theatre.
Presented over five nights by Out of the Wings, the festival showcases English translations of plays from Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Spain, Brazil and Peru.
Out of the Wings was born out of a collaboration between its co-founders and the Royal Shakespeare Company's Spanish Golden Age season. It has brought English translations of theatre from Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking worlds to the UK since 2008 and since 2017, it has held its festival at the Omnibus Theatre.
An Out of the Wings spokesperson said: "Showcasing the work of leading playwrights as well as emerging voices, OOTW brings together writers, translators, other theatre-makers and audiences of all backgrounds to share international stories as yet unheard in the UK.
"Together, we will explore the best of Hispanic and Lusophone playwriting, in a celebration of international collaboration and theatre in translation."

After a year spent on screens, the festival will share plays that visit physical spaces and internal words, say Omnibus Theatre.
"In a prison, at a high school or in a shopping mall; out on the city streets or within the privacy of the mind, writers from across Ibero-America explore identity, gender, fear of the unknown, the weight of history, and the limits of empathy, through science fiction, true-life recollection, the abstract, and the all too real."
