Woman, 18, raped by two men at Peckham Rye

Detectives are appealing for witnesses as they investigate a rape near Peckham Rye station.

Peckham Rye Station remains closed to trains with a crime scene in place after a rape was reported to police shortly after 12:45am on Friday (January 14).

Police were told an 18-year-old woman was walking down an alleyway off Elm Grove shortly after 10:20pm on Thursday (January 13) when she was approached from behind by two men.

She was taken to Holly Grove where the two men then raped her, a report police released today said.

The two men are described as wearing dark clothing, gloves and face coverings.

Trains run frequently between Clapham Junction and Peckham Rye Station, and police are asking anyone in the Peckham Rye area last night with information to assist the investigation to contact them.

Detective Superintendent Clair Kelland said: "The investigation into this incident is fast paced and ongoing and involves an extensive crime scene.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Peckham Rye Station between 10pm and 11pm last night who saw anything that might assist our investigation."
