What's On in Clapham this weekend

As more and more events are being organised locally Nub News is launching a new weekly round up of what's on in Clapham each weekend.

Every Thursday we will now bring you our top picks of the events in our What's On section for the coming weekend.

Events coming up in Clapham

Thursday: Paint & Sip

Common will host the first of its Paint & Sip nights in Clapham on Thursday, as Autumn takes hold of the weather and our wardrobes.

With summertime activities put firmly out to pasture this week, the popular café, shop and bar is offering an evening of tipples, nibbles and scribbles inside its beautiful historic Grade II listed building overlooking Clapham Common.

Led by experienced abstract and still life painter Alexe Pavelescu, each ticket costs £15 and includes all paint supplies and a starter glass of prosecco, house white or red – as well as your very own masterpiece (or work-in-progress) to take home.

Friday: Live Music: Clarence Oddbody and Born Again Virgin

When it comes to live music, Clapham is spoilt for choice on where to head. But none of our local venues can beat the track record for talent-spotting boasted by The Bread & Roses Pub.

On Friday, pop in for a drink after dinner to catch Born Again Virgin on stage at 9pm, followed Clarence Oddbody at 9.30pm.

Saturday: Meat Cute

A woman is on a mission to find the perfect candidate. Tinder. Vegans. Apple juice. Will she ever swipe right? 14 dates later, a broken family, a Pomeranian named Mozart and an eviction notice, is this rebellion or simply a cry for help?

Meat Cute asks: how does a 23-year-old woman navigate a world governed by masculinity and violence, and, how far is too far?

'Meat Cute provides deliciously crafted, beautifully balanced food for thought. What if everyone stood up for what they believed in? For what was right?'

- West End Best Friend

'This is an excellent play, well written, directed and performed and if the standard remains this high, they are sure to continue to grow as a theatre company.'

- North West End

'Lucille's writing sizzles with humour. There is a family dinner scene that had me cackling loudly, it is so ridiculously funny.'

- View from the Outside

'It turned out to be one of the most memorable hours I have had. It was really well written, topical, and funny. In particular, it really made me think about the animal activist movement and how it affects people.'

- London Pub Theatres
