Balham man charged with murder in Tooting stabbing

A local man has been charged with murder following a stabbing in nearby Tooting.

Raekwon Hanniford-Brown, 22, of Rossiter Road, SW12 appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 30 July charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

A murder investigation was launched after police were called at approximately 01:15hrs on Wednesday, 27 July to reports of a man suffering serious injuries at an address on Trinity Crescent, SW17.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and pronounced Errol McKay, 49, dead at the scene.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 40s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. They were taken into custody before being released on bail and have since been told that no further action will be taken.

Hanniford-Brown was arrested on Thursday, 28 July.
