Breaking: Body found in search for missing Wandsworth man
A body has been found in the River Thames by authorities searching for a man missing from the local area.
Wandsworth Police launched an appeal to trace 27-year-old Mussa Mohammed on Monday (October 18).
Following the discovery of a body in the River Thames near Hammersmith Bridge today (Wednesday, October 20), a spokesperson for Wandsworth Met Police stressed that formal identification is yet to take place, but that Mussa's family have been informed.
"Officers searching for a missing 27-year-old man from Wandsworth have found a body in the River Thames near Hammersmith Bridge.
"While formal identification awaits, the family of Mussa Mohammed have been informed," the Wandsworth MPS statement read.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing," it added.
Mussa was reported missing by Clapham Nub News on Monday following an appeal local police made to the public for help in tracing the 27-year-old.
Police said Mussa was last seen leaving Le Fez nightclub in Putney at 4.02am on October 17.
A spokesperson for Wandsworth MPS said: "Police believe he was in company with another man.
"If you see Mussa, or know his whereabouts please call police on 999 with reference to 21MIS032247."
