Around 100 firefighters tackled a fire at a warehouse on Electric Lane on Saturday (July 16).

Fifteen fire engines from Clapham, West Norwood, Peckham, Old Kent Road, Chelsea and surrounding fire stations attended the scene near Brixton Market after the Brigade's 999 Control Officers received 53 calls to the blaze.

Around 50 people evacuated the two-storey storage warehouse before the Brigade arrived. The ground floor of the warehouse was destroyed but there were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 8:58pm and fire crews had the blaze under control by 12:30am, less than four hours later.

Investigators are examining the cause of the fire.
