Event of the Week: Women Do South at The Bread & Roses Pub

If one of your favourite past-times B.C. (Before Coronavirus) was stumbling upon incredible artists who on the cusp of stratospheric success still played small gigs on account of having not yet gone viral, Women Do South will be your cup of tea.

Hosted over eight weeks at The Bread & Roses Pub, Women Do South Festival sees South London's freshest female-led acts take their talent to the Clapham stage from August through to October.

Performing in the 120 capacity venue tonight (Tuesday September 14) is Fragile States, Lisa Vigour, Maariyah and Jen Proust.

7pm - Fragile States

A female-fronted band making experimental, lo-fi, uplifting and catchy pop music. Minimalist vocals from lead singer Dido Hallett with witty yet simple lyrics characterise the band's sound. Expect an electrifying vibe that's positively contagious.

7.40pm - Lisa Vigour

A multi talented, creative person who has used her creativity to survive the struggles in her life, Lisa's music is quirky, festival pop that's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Having performed at Glastonbury and Boomtown festival, Lisa's velvety vocals are available to stream across all digital platforms in her latest release 'Carefree'.

8.20pm - Maariyah

At just 21 years old, this singer-songwriter and producer from Derby has already been named one of BBC Introducing's Top 20 "Most Played" artists, with 11 consecutive plays on the BBC Introducing show between 2018-2019.

In Spring 2021 Maariyah was "Track of the Week" on the BBC Introducing East Midlands show, has been Bobby Friction's "Track of the Week' on the BBC Asian Network and had her debut BBC Radio 1 play on Gemma Bradley's introducing show.

She takes to the stage with her debut single "Spoon Feed".

9pm - Jen Proust

Finishing up the evening's performances is Jen Proust. Though in the confirmed line-up, next to nothing has been shared about Jen or her music. Now if that doesn't intrigue you into buying a ticket, we don't know what will.

Tickets are a steal at just £4 and available to buy here.
