More traffic chaos for Clapham

A motorbike parked across the Battersea Rise bus lane is adding to a summer of travel chaos in Clapham.

The 35 bus route from Clapham Common to Clapham Junction is just one of the routes blocked from the lane which helps it maintain a consistent and reliable service for local residents.

Clapham Nub News witnessed police cars, trying to blue light to an incident, instead gridlocked on the north-west corner of Clapham Common.

At least one kind bus driver took pity on his passengers as he opened the doors, allowing them to alight early.

Ellie Brown, a local resident and passenger who decided to leave the bus, paused to photograph the motorbike number plates.

"It's stupid," she said. "Who parks like that?

"Of course it is selfish but it's also illegal. There are practical reasons for that - police cars are trying to pass, these cars are in total gridlock and can't move.

"You have to wonder what on earth the driver was thinking."

Clapham Nub News could not locate the driver for comment.
