Clapham: Local pub The Stonhouse to close until spring
A popular pub in the heart of Clapham will close next week but unlike the once-nearby Rectory, its closure is only temporary.
The Stonhouse is a fiercely guarded secret among locals. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Clapham High Street, the eponymous pub on Stonhouse Street while barely one minute's walk away from busy urban life, retains a calm charm residents readily stroll into. A pause on any pints pulled unfortunately begins on Monday (January 24) when The Stonhouse closes for refurbishment. Set to bring a brand new menu back with its brand new look on March 2, the last chance for one of its gravy-covered, beef, Pork belly, turkey or veggie Sunday Roasts to warm you through winter is this weekend. If it's a thought too hard to bear, seek comfort in one of its two sister pubs in Clapham. The Avalon in Clapham South and The Abbeville in Abbeville Village will keep Clapham watered and fed until The Stonhouse returns in spring - right on time for afternoons settled into its beer garden.
