Clapham petrol stations out of fuel as nationwide problems continue

Petrol stations in Clapham are out of fuel after fears over shortages prompted panic buying over the weekend and into this week.

Sainbury's on Nightingale Lane, Shell on Balham High Road and Londis on Clapham Common South Side were all out of fuel by yesterday afternoon.

Londis on Clapham Common North Side remained empty of fuel at 2.00pm today (Monday September 27).

Staff were unable to say when there would be another delivery to resupply the station.

Local residents took to the neighbourhood app Nextdoor to share their experience and advice on petrol stations with stock.

One woman whose local petrol station is the Londis on Clapham Common North Side said: "I hate to be contributing to the mass panic but I genuinely do need petrol.

"Does anyone know of any that have still got petrol available?"

Having been informed that Texaco on Wandsworth Road had stock, she warned fellow locals: "It is chaos."

The Government has repeatedly urged people not to stockpile fuel, and said there was no fuel shortage, and that the issue is in fact a shortage of HGV drivers to deliver the fuel to petrol stations.
