Thousands of local residents plan to celebrate the crowning of the new king at street parties all over Wandsworth during the upcoming Coronation weekend.

Residents of 144 streets have applied to the council for permission to hold a party. The council waived the usual fees as part of its work to make the Coronation as inclusive as possible and encourage communities to celebrate together,

The council also provided a grant fund for community events, with celebrations across the borough, including big screenings, tea parties and family fun days in parks, town centres and housing estates. Find out more here.

Kemi Akinola, cabinet member for the voluntary sector, said: "It's great that so many people will be celebrating over the long weekend with their friends and neighbours. Please do tag us on social media so we can share the fun with the whole borough."
