A little sun and a lot of star shone upon Clapham's Eco Summer Fair at St Paul's Church
Clapham resident Will Young sprinkled stardust on St Paul's Church as the master of ceremonies at its annual Summer Eco Fair.
Introduced by the vicar of St Paul's Church, Reverend Jonathan Boardman, national treasure Will Young cut the proverbial ribbon to open Clapham's summer fête on Saturday (July 10).
Speaking with Clapham Nub News the Evergreen singer said supporting St Paul's green event was a no-brainer.
"When I got asked to do this I thought, 'why would I not?'
With his beloved dog, Esme, besides him, Young gave everyone a lowdown on the wonderful activities and fair games people in the local community had helped organise at St Paul's.
While the Pimm's Bar got pouring and the barbeque smoked away, cake competitions at the cake stall proved there are several Clapham locals with a Mary Berry-esque knack have for baking, and those who were brave enough set off to the lower garden to give Scottish reeling a go.
Alongside a vast array of stalls selling pre-loved clothing, books and toys were the best of Clapham's sustainably-focused businesses.
Clapham Nub News visited local jewellery brand Paper Rose Crafts, whose founder Emily Banks creates handmade jewellery from recycled wastepaper and other up-cycled items she sources locally, like copper and cork.
St Paul's Church was last month awarded the Eco Church Silver Award on account of its many eco-friendly projects, while the Churchyard and idyllic Eden Nature Garden opposite hold the prestigious Green Flag Award
From the garden plant sale in Eden Nature Garden to the Caribbean cuisine and brilliant raffle prizes (do prizes get better than Trinity restaurant vouchers or private Will Young concerts?), St Paul's Church hosted a marvellous Fair for all in the Clapham community to enjoy.
