Coffee shop The Black Lab has permanently closed in Clapham after more than a decade serving our bleary eyes brew.

The café cemented itself as a cosy, neighbourhood spot as soon as it opened at 18 Clapham Common South Side in 2010.

As legendary as the queues for their heinously addictive hot chocolates was The Black Lab's devotion to local residents with four legs and fur.

Indeed, bidding Clapham Common goodbye in a post on social media, Alex, Matt & James thanked every customer and all loyal regulars from over the years before adding: "Mostly though, we will miss hosting all the hounds and pooches of Clapham Common!"

The trio behind The Black Lab continued: "Reflecting on so many good times, laughs and all the ups & downs only the unique Clapham Common can provide, makes us feel truly honoured and privileged to have been part of the community".

Clapham's loss is Brighton's gain, however, as Matthew sets off to continue The Black Lab legacy with a new coffee shop in Hove.

There is no official opening date but keep an eye out for 'The Lab' if you're in the area.

In the Black Lab's lads final words to Clapham: "It will be a pleasure to serve you with a fine brew once again."
