THE shortest day is behind us but winter has a habit of looking its longest at this time of year.

Since we know of no better way to beat the January blues than popcorn and Stanley Tucci, compiled is a list of upcoming films screening at Clapham Picturehouse.

What's On at Clapham Picturehouse

The King's Man

Ralph Fiennes heads up this adventure-filled prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service and its follow-up The Golden Circle in the form of Orlando, Duke of Oxford – aka the O.G. King's Man.

Taken back in time to the dawn of World War I and the creation of the Kingsman intelligence agency, The King's Man follows Orlando as he recruits the next generation of 007s.

Shed only a brief tear for the absence of – to our eyes – the first recruit, Taron Egerton, for the "goodies" cast in his place to fight Rasputin, Lenin and Hitler include Djimon Hounsou, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance and (saved-the-best-to-last) Stanley Tucci.

Licorice Pizza

Set in California's San Fernando Valley where liquorice is spelt licorice, Licorice Pizza follows Gary Valentine (Cooper Hoffman, son of Philip Seymour Hoffman), a precocious high schooler and child star who meets and is immediately besotted with Alana (Alana Haim of sister band Haim fame).

Cameos from George DiCaprio (Leo's father) and Sasha Spielberg (the daughter of a certain someone) sprinkle this coming-of-age story as it slow dances through 1970s Cali.

West Side Story

Director Steven Spielberg and Pulitzer Prize-winning screenwriter Tony Kushner bring a new adaptation of the beloved stage musical West Side Story to the big screen.

Hard to improve upon the first 1961 screen incarnation – it won 10 Oscars – the story of young, star-crossed lovers caught in the cross-fire of their cultures' war resonates now, as always.

The Matrix Resurrections

It's time to wake up: the long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking Matrix franchise is here.

The Matrix Resurrections reunites us with Neo (Keanu Reeves), who finds himself plagued by strange memories of a mysterious past.

His life takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself back inside the Matrix.
