Clapham Nub News is delighted to introduce new restaurant Yori on Clapham Junction's Lavender Hill.
Located at 196 where Ginger Kiss used to be, Yori has been a firm favourite among fans of Korean cuisine ever since its first restaurant in Piccadilly opened in 2016.
Lavender Hill is the fifth Yori to open and has been added after restaurants in Wimbledon and Ealing opened – can they sense south west London is hankering for Korean barbecue ?
With South Korea stuck on the amber list for the foreseeable, we could not be more thrilled Group executive chef Park Junchul, in charge of the menu, has brought Yori's bite-sized chunks of Korean Cuisine to our doorstep.
What to expect
It is hard to say all descriptions on the menu are as enticing as the dish they pertain to. Traditional appetisers like Tteokbokki that Yori pack with flavour are presented matter-of-factly for what they are: 'traditional dish of spicy rice cakes, fish cakes and vegetables.'
Dishes like the grilled sweetcorn with melting mozzarella cheese strike as straight-up peculiar, but surprising combinations speaks to what has made Korean food so successful in London. The food is exotic and familiar: from Korean fried chicken to Bulgogi, a Korean kind of stir fry, there is a spark of something different amid tastes of old acquaintance.
With friendly staff, delicious food and a Korean-style bar hidden away in the basement for late night cocktails, Yori is a fantastic addition to Clapham Junction's restaurant scene.
