Man, 29, arrested on drugs charges after car crash on Wandsworth High Street

A man, 29, has been arrested following a car crash on Wandsworth High Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to Wandsworth High Street at around 4:30am on Saturday (May 20) where two cars had collided.

The drivers of both cars were taken to hospital for treatment. Their conditions were assessed as not life threatening.

One of the drivers, a 29-year-old man, was discharged from the hospital and arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs; failing to provide a specimen; and possession of class A drugs.

Wandsworth Police said: "At approximately 04:30hrs on Saturday, 20 May police were alerted to two cars in collision in Wandsworth High Street, SW18.

"The drivers of both cars were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries; their conditions are not life threatening.

"One of the drivers – a 29-year-old man – was discharged following treatment and arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs; failing to provide a specimen and possession of class A drugs. He was taken into police custody and has been bailed to a date in late June.

"Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing."
