A man whose rap sheet includes drug supply and assault has been jailed for sixteen months within weeks of his arrest by Clapham East Police.

Officers in the Clapham East Police team had their fitness levels put to the test in early January when the male, whose identity has not been released, attempted to escape inquiry.

Once detained, he was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, drug supply (both pictured) and assault on emergency workers.

The Clapham East Police team worked through the night to secure a charge from the Crown Prosecution Service while the suspect remained in custody.

As a result, the case was heard at court yesterday (January 23), and less than a fortnight after local police uncovered his offences, the man has received a 16-month jail term.

A spokesperson for Clapham East Police sharing the update on Twitter said it was "a great team effort and result".
