Met Police officer charged with rape in Lambeth

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with rape.

PC Ireland Murdock, who is attached to the Central North Command Unit, was arrested on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

The offence is alleged to have happened on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Lambeth while PC Murdock was off duty.

He will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court today (Friday, April 29).

The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, as has the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The victim is being supported by specialist officers.

PC Murdock has been suspended.
