Thursday, April 20: Hollywood Babylon - An Evening of Readings

Artists, writers, and performers read short stories celebrating the idiosyncratic pantheon of public figures and Old Hollywood stars found within our current exhibition, Scott Covert's C'est la vie. Contributors include Alex Margo Arden, Hannah Regel, Harold Offeh, Lauren John Joseph, Misha Mn and Sam Cottington.

In response to Covert's highly personalised taxonomy of famous subjects, the readings for this event will delve further into the themes of 20th Century American pop culture, or Americana, relating to ideas of celebrity, gossip, mythology, and tragedy.

Friday, April 21: St Paul's Opera 10th Anniversary Gala

Ten years ago, three music lovers got together and had a wild idea: why not stage an opera, using St Paul's Church in Clapham's Old Town as the stage?

The trio – the-then vicar of St Paul's Deborah Matthews, Australian opera singer and teacher Jennifer McGregor and Clapham-based soprano Patricia Ninian – decided to stage a performance of two short operas, Gianni Schicchi and Der Schauspieldirektor. The rest is history.

To celebrate this 10th anniversary SPO is staging a special gala concert featuring favourite arias and scenes from SPO's back catalogue, a 'greatest hits' compilation from operas staged over the years.

Saturday, April 22: Growing Futures Earth Day Celebrations

Growing Futures aims to strengthen young people's knowledge of the natural world through creative play.

To celebrate Earth Day, join Studio Voltaire on Saturday 22 April 2023 for a series of free drop-in family events, including artist-led making and exploring activities inspired by the Studio Voltaire onsite community garden designed by Anthea Hamilton.

Saturday, April 22: Live Music - Bruno Giacomazzi

Bruno Giacomazzi is a guitarist, singer-songwriter who started his career at the age of 12. In 2012, when he was only 16 years old, he formed his first band named "Stay Johnny". Months later, the talented group début in "Cult In Music", a famous Brazilian band competition, winning the prizes to 'Best Band' and 'Best Lead Guitarist'. The band competition was sponsored by the English school "Cultura Inglesa".

Catch him at The Bread & Roses on Saturday evening - free entry!

Until April 22: No Sweat - Andrew Unleashed

A new play from BBC TV comedy writer Trevelyan Evans, staring Jasper Marshall – hot from the Camden Fringe Festival - in which Prince Andrew voices all the things he was supposed to shut up about… now he's got nothing more to lose.

The British establishment laid bare from the mouth of someone who's been spat out from its core. From the history of the monarchy, to the rise of the Windsors; public schools, the honours system, slavery and how the elite mesmerise us into believing in them.

Satire at its biting best! And, if that wasn't enough.. Andrew performs the funky chicken 'No Sweat' disco dance.
