It's tricky to know what sort of winter is in store for us in London these days. If our 2021 summer is anything to go by, one week after heavy rain floods Clapham and Battersea we'll be chilling out pondering what to do about climate change while bronzing in a mini-heatwave.

Ultimately, whatever new and unseasonably strange weather may be thrown our way, the Northern Hemisphere's lot in life is knowing to never forget a winter is always coming.

Many people who want to support the Poppy Appeal are struggling again this year because of the increasing number of outlets which are now cashless since the pandemic.

Shops, supermarkets and pubs around Clapham still have their traditional boxes and pins on the bar or at the check-out but few people carry any loose change to purchase a poppy.
