Wandsworth police have arrested a man for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Local police officers received reports that a man was approaching children in Wandsworth Park asking offensive and obscene sexual questions yesterday (Thursday, October 7).

Wandsworth is hosting another of its "Mega Skip Days" in October for local residents to bin their bulky waste for free.

Between 9am and midday on Saturday October 16, residents can bring anything from sofas to mattresses and other large furniture items to one of five locations in the borough where mega skips will be placed.

Recent data released by the Government show that Wandsworth has had the second-lowest number of recorded fly-tips in inner London.

The data recorded shows the total number of fly-tips recorded from the 2012/13 to 2019/20 datasets. Wandsworth had 4,745 recorded fly-tips - over the same period, Merton had 13,047 fly-tip incidents, Hammersmith & Fulham 13,332, Westminster 15,283, Kensington & Chelsea 6,490 and Lambeth 6,638.

An appeal to trace a teenage girl missing from Balham has been launched by local police.

Tilly, 15, was last seen on Monday (October 4), prompting Wandsworth Police to share her image on social media.

Police have made an arrest following a series of indecent exposures on Wandsworth Common and continue to investigate in the area.

Plain clothed police officers have been patrolling the area in recent days over reports of a man exposing himself on Sunday morning.

A cyclist in his 40s has died after a collision with another rider in Balham.

Emergency services rushed to the scene this morning on Balham High Street at around 8.20am and the man was taken to hospital while the road was closed in both directions.
