Clarence Avenue: Body found in Clapham car fire

London Fire Brigade has issued a statement after a body was found in a burning car in Clapham yesterday (December 27).
Police and firefighters were called to Clarence Avenue at 2.45am where they found a car on fire.
A human body was found inside the car after the fire was extinguished.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are working to identify them.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said the death is being treated as unexpected and further enquiries are underway.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Sadly, a person has died after a car fire on Clarence Avenue in Clapham.
"A car was destroyed by fire. A person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The Brigade was called at 0245 and the incident was over for firefighters by 0324. Fire crews from Brixton and Clapham fire stations attended the scene.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
