GEORGE GRANT TAKES CLUBSPORT TROPHY PODIUM IN BUSY SNETTERTON WEEKEND

Clapham North MOT returned to Snetterton as George Grant took a podium finish in the BRSCC Clubsport Trophy race, one of four different championships he competed in across the weekend.

Racing in the #69 Mazda MX-5 Mk3, Grant battled hard in a tight field to come home second in the D class. Grant raced the same car in the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup, showing good speed on the fast and flowing Norfolk-based circuit, enjoying close battles with his rivals and picking up solid points towards the Masters' class championship.

Following engine issues at Silverstone, Grant returned to the MK1 MX-5 at Snetterton in the Downforce Radio-supported BRSCC Clubman Championship, securing top ten finishes in the Masters' class in both races.

His busy weekend also saw Grant's debut in the Silverlake C1 Racing Series. Taking part in the five-hour endurance event with On The Edge Motorsport in the #361 Citroën C1, the team were set for a top-five finish before a late fuel issue dropped them to 14th.

The next round of the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup Championship will take place on the 20-22 May at Silverstone. On the same weekend, Grant is also set to compete in the Citroën C1 24-hour race, racing in a Clapham North MOT-branded entry.

George Grant: "There was so much going on over the weekend that it's hard to remember what I was doing! I had really good pace in the SuperCup, I had some great battles out there. The Clubsport Trophy was also fun and I managed to take a podium finish with second-in-class.

"I enjoyed taking part in the Silverlake Citroën C1 Series with On The Edge Motorsport. I wasn't far off the pace initially, which was great considering I'd not tested the cars before. It was a fantastic event, and I could really hold my own against the more experienced drivers on the circuit.

"We were on for a fifth-place finish until we hit a fuel issue, meaning we ended the race in 14th. I want to congratulate the BRSCC and the C1 Series for organising such a fantastic event, it was great preparation for the Citroën C1 24-hour race at Silverstone next month. We'll have a Clapham North car on the grid so I'm excited for that."
