Appeal for information one week on from Lambeth murder

Detectives investigating a fatal shooting in Lambeth returned to the scene yesterday as part of Scotland Yard's continued appeal for witnesses and information.

Officers attended Ferrey Mews with paramedics on Sunday, September 12 after reports of a shooting and found 27-year-old Chino Johnson suffering gunshot wounds.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, Mr Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

One week after Mr Johnson's murder there have been no arrests and yesterday (September 19) officers returned to Ferrey Mews to continue their enquiries.

It is understood that shortly before 9.00pm two suspects on a moped rode into Ferrey Mews and opened fire on a group of people socialising outside, fatally shooting Chino and injuring two other women.

Those women, aged 26 and 29, received hospital treatment before being discharged.

The pair then fled on the moped in the direction of Bennett Road and Dora Way.

The moped is described as light coloured – either white or silver – with a large black square box mounted on the rear and an L plate hanging down. It is believed to be either a Yamaha NX or a model that looks similar.

Anyone with footage that could assist can upload it via the following link here.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about the moped or any other aspect of Chino's murder call the incident room on 020 8721 4622 referencing 7163/12SEP.

Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or through their website.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "It is one week since Chino was fatally injured as a result of this shooting, which will have understandably caused shock and concern in the local community.

"Those responsible need to be identified and held to account for their actions and I would appeal to anyone who has information that could assist, no matter how small or insignificant they think this is, to contact my team in confidence.

"If you do not wish to speak to police, you can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers."
