The local police team for Ferndale ward returned a stolen car to its rightful owner after recovering it during a routine patrol two months after the theft.

Officers in the Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) for Ferndale were on a routine patrol of the local area yesterday (Saturday, November 6) when they recognised a silver Audi that was reported stolen in September.

Across London there were 2,558 motor vehicles reported stolen in September – 75 of them in Lambeth.

Ferndale ward, which stretches from north Clapham to north Brixton, sees more theft and keeping of lost property than any other crime committed in the area.

Spotting the stolen vehicle, officers contacted the Audi's owner who is reportedly "very happy" to be reunited with his car.

Ferndale Police tweeted: "Whilst on patrol today, officers found a vehicle that had been reported stolen in September, the owner has been informed and is very happy to have his vehicle back."
