Emily Ratajkowski to speak at Battersea Arts Centre festival this month

Emily Ratajkowski will reflect on feminism, sexuality and power as part of a new festival hosted at Battersea Arts Centre this November.

The American model, actor and author joins the inaugural Shameless! Festival live on stage in Battersea to explore the themes of her book My Body with Women of the World (WOW) founder Jude Kelly CBE.

Ratajkowski rocketed to world fame at 21-years-old after her appearance in the music video for Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke's controversial 2013 hit.

The Blurred Lines video, which featured Ratajkowski and two other half-naked models alongside the fully-clothed Thicke, Pharrell Williams and rapper TI, sparked widespread debate.

Ratajkowski chronicles such moments from her own life in My Body, exploring – among other subjects – the blurred lines between consent and abuse as she does so.

The chance to hear her discuss the power of feminist thought and the #MeToo movement with such subjects on stage comes as Battersea Arts Centre hosts the first ever Shameless! Festival of Activism Against Sexual Violence later this month.

A one-day event created in collaboration by Birkbeck's SHaME project and WOW – Women of the World, the line-up includes prizewinning author Professor Joanna Burke, survivor of child marriage Payzee Mahmod and Soma Sara, the Founder of Everyone's Invited.

With workshops, talks and performances throughout the day, Shameless! will address the global crisis of sexual violence and confront the shame it often comes with.

Details on how to buy Day Pass tickets to the festival on Saturday, November 27, can be found here.
