The Nub News story which resonates with people from up and down the country through to folks across the pond

The lesson angry locals taught a selfish Mercedes driver has hit not only UK nationals, but also travelled stateside. First reported on by a sister site of Clapham Nub News, it seems nothing bonds us humans more than resoundingly bad drivers being taught very public messages.

Local residents banded together to send a determinedly literal message to the rubbish driver of a car parked in a clearly marked 'Keep Clear' area.

The Mercedes was left for two days and blocked the council's recycling lorry from accessing the collection due to take place on Tuesday (August 10).

After attempts by residents of Parsons Lane in Branscombe to locate the owner were to no avail, a posse of villagers banded together to fight fire with fire - or rubbish reversing with recycling refuse, even. The neighbours piled their uncollected bags of recycling up around the offending vehicle and posted photos on social media.

Eventually the police, having been contacted about the vehicle, were able to trace the owner through its insurance company and resolve the issue. The car has now been removed.

In the meantime, residents still await a much-needed rubbish collection - and as the rubbish includes food waste, they say it is now becoming an environmental health issue.

One resident, David Miller, told Sidmouth Nub News the food waste is infested with maggots and smells disgusting.

East Devon District Council has been experiencing problems with waste collections for several weeks. The council explains on its website that due to its contractor struggling with staff shortages it is unable to make all the usual collections.
