Ferndale Police are working to return a number of stolen bikes to their rightful owners, if only the owners can be found.
Officers recovered 21 bikes from a property on Midmoor Road, SW12, earlier this month.
But nearly two weeks later, only two of the 21 bikes police retrieved have been reunited with their owners on account of the majority not being registered with the National Cycle Database, Bike Register.
Among the brands of bikes still unclaimed sits a Cannondale and a Vitus Road Bike, carbon models of which retail for more than £2,000.
The remainder of stolen bikes awaiting identification from owners can be seen in pictures here.
Bike Register has become the UK's foremost database on which to search for stolen and recovered bikes, with every police force in Britain using it to return victims of bike theft their property.
Ferndale Police wrote on Twitter: "We have successfully returned 2 bikes to their owners. This was because they had been registered with Bike Register."
"Please always ensure you register your bike and make a note of the frame number which is unique to each bike."
Bike owners are invited to attend a free bike marking event in Clapham in April to deter thieves.
Anyone who recognises their bike is asked to contact the Ferndale Police team via email [email protected] and provide proof of ownership.
