The chicken restaurant crossing the road to Clapham

A popular London chicken restaurant will be available for takeaway in Clapham when Patty & Bun opens on Northcote Road..

Sidechick began life when the team behind Patty & Bun started a lockdown-borne chicken delivery service, serving half or whole chickens cooked three ways – with piri piri, aromatically spiced with za'atar or rubbed down with chimichurri.

Such is the British population's partiality to marinated poultry, a 50-cover bricks and mortar restaurant soon followed in Marylebone to cement this Nando's-but-posh offering.

With Patty & Bun set to open on Northcote Road, the chicken is now crossing the road to South London where it will operate a delivery kitchen from the burger shop.

While Nando's remains the only dine-in option for Clapham residents with a hankering for tenderised protein, Sidechick will be available on Deliveroo or by Click & Collect – perfect for a Netflix and chill with a chick flick.

In a post on social media a spokesperson for Sidechick said of the imminent arrival: "That's right, the juiciest chicken, crispiest spuds and the freshest veg are going to be available to the lovely people of South London.

"We'll be operating our delivery kitchen from our big sis' Patty & Bun new shop on Northcote Road, opening March 22."

After all these years of debate, that's one issue settled – in Clapham at least, the chicken came before the egg.
