Clapham Common MAC (CCMAC) and Lambeth Council are inviting residents to comment on plans for a new waterplay facility on the Common.

Details of the proposal to replace the old and disused paddling pool on Clapham Common with a waterplay area for children of all ages were published yesterday (Wednesday, March 16).

The waterplay area, set to open next year on Clapham Common North Side by The Pavement, will be free to use when it's in operation during the spring and summer months.

CCMAC Chair, Simon Millson, said: "Over the coming weeks, consultation will take place with parents, guardians, carers, teachers and children to understand what they would like to see as part of the upgrade.

"Waterplay is a considerable investment so we want to make sure we make the right choices.

A survey in which residents are asked how often they use Clapham Common, whether they live in Lambeth or Wandsworth, if they have children and the extent to which they approve of the waterplay proposal has been developed by CCMAC and the Council.

Residents can also indicate what aspects of the development they would most prioritise, such as the inclusion of a shaded rest area, accessible toilets, a kiosk selling drinks and snacks and the amount of grass to retain.
