Balham Tube Station will be partially closed until late December
From Monday June 28 Balham Tube Station will be 'exit only' between 7.30am and 9.30am on weekdays due to planned escalator works.
When the station entrance is open out of rush hour and at weekends the platforms will be accessible by staircase only as there will be no descending escalator until late 2021.
The ascending escalator will remain in operation, and the works will not affect Balham overground.
Transport for London (Tfl) has asked Northern line commuters to walk or take the bus to Tooting Bec or Clapham South during the escalator works at Balham. Those with luggage or a buggy are advised to do the same.
A spokesperson for Tfl said: "From Monday 28 June until late December 2021, there will be no entry to Balham station on Mondays to Fridays between 07:30 and 09:30. This is due to planned escalator works.
"Please walk to or take bus 155, 249 or 355 to nearby Clapham South or Tooting Bec stations during the hours stated above, and if you are travelling with luggage or buggies.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for continuing to wear a face covering when using public transport, washing or sanitising your hands before and after travel, and travelling at quieter times where possible."
