Clapham Common Parkrun will not take place on August 28
Upcoming Clapham Common Parkrun Cancelled
Clapham Common Parkrun's upcoming event has been cancelled.
Due to take place on Saturday, August 28, a spokesperson for the event said you can still volunteer and run, jog or walk with participants at other parkruns.
Parkrun events will be going ahead over in Richmond and Teddington, where parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt launched the first ever event in Bushy Park.
Closer to home, Tooting parkrun is back on around the Common.
None of the parkrun events that happen would be possible without the teams of volunteers, described by the charity which manages the events as the 'real heroes'.
Generally volunteers are parkrun participants who on a few Saturdays each year forfeit running to ensure the events continue to go ahead successfully.
A volunteer could organise the finish funnel, operate the timer, scan the runners' barcodes or sort tokens.
Parkrun has been described as 'one of the greatest public health initiatives of the 21st century' and its organisers are keen to rebuild the number of participants and the event's profile back to pre-pandemic levels.
Anyone who would like to volunteer at Clapham Common parkrun can find the event roster and its vacancies here.
