Parents of children who need to take the Wandsworth Year 6 Admissions test but were unable to do so in September are now being urged to register their child for the test in December, with the closing date to register Sunday, October 31.

Wandsworth secondary schools that use partial selection or fair banding as part of their admissions criteria will use the test results to make decisions for September 2022 admissions.

The schools requiring the test are Ashcroft Technology Academy, Chestnut Grove Academy or a selective (ability) place at Burntwood School or Graveney School.

Parents only need to register if they are applying for one of these schools and their child attends an independent school, a state primary school outside of Wandsworth or is educated at home.

Children attending a state primary school will take the test in school if they have not already done so and there is no need to register.

The Wandsworth Year 6 admissions test was held in September 2021 for children starting secondary school in 2022. However, a further test date has now been arranged for Saturday, December 11 for those who were unable to sit September's test.

Parents registering ahead of Sunday's deadline should use the same email address they will be using on the e-admissions website. It should also be an email address that can be accessed at weekends in case there are any last-minute updates.

Parents must ensure that their child can take the test on December 11. Only in exceptional circumstances will there be an opportunity to take the test on another day.

Parents who have correctly registered will receive an email invitation with information about the test venue they should attend on or before Friday, December 3. Please note that the test venue will not necessarily be a school they have applied to.

If your child attends a state primary school in Wandsworth, he or she will have usually taken the test at school in September. If they were unable to take the test, parents are advised to speak to their child's school who can make the arrangements to sit the test on another date.

Parents with any queries or questions about the tests are advised to contact the borough's pupil services team by email at [email protected]. Staff will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible but parents are advised that due to the potential volume of enquiries this may take a little time.
