A Clapham resident has been charged with murder and will appear in custody today (Friday, March 3) at Bromley Magistrates' Court.

Police were called to an address on Durham Street, in Vauxhall, at 3:47pm on Wednesday (February 15) to reports of an unresponsive man.

Officers attended and provided emergency first aid to 56-year-old Shaun McEvoy. He was taken to a South London hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination held on Friday (February 17) was inconclusive, but revealed he had injuries consistent with an assault.

Dedan Simmons, 39, of Clapham Road, was charged with murder yesterday (Thursday, March 2).

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command continue to investigate and ask that anyone with information that could assist their work to contact 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 4756/15FEB.
