Residents will have a rare opportunity to see a historic steam express in action on the mainline this weekend as 'The Golden Arrow' travels through Clapham as part of a unique tour experience.

Beginning its journey at Birmingham International bright and early tomorrow morning at 5.20am, the locomotive will make its way through the London suburbs before passing through Ashford and arriving at Canterbury for an afternoon break, where passengers will be able to stretch their legs before the return journey.

For local train enthusiasts, the Golden Arrow will pass through Clapham Junction at 9am on its Southbound trip, but for those not quite out of bed on Saturday morning to catch the steam engine, a second opportunity to catch a glimpse will be available at 7pm from Clapham High Street on its return leg back to Birmingham for 11.30pm.

Promoted by Saphos Trains, fares for the experience start at £165 with first-class and dining experiences also on offer.

The excursion will be hauled by the Loco 34046 Braunton.
