Italian restaurant MBARE re-opens on Clapham High Street today
Sometimes when one door closes the next one that opens does so surprisingly close to home. At least, it has in the case of Clapham restaurant MBARE.
MBARE re-opens in Clapham tonight at its new address 167 Clapham High Street. The family-run Italian restaurant should be easy for its loyal, local patrons to find, having moved just a stone's throw away from its previous premises at 127 Clapham High Street.
Following an exciting refurbishment of the new site, MBARE is now nestled between @ Bar and Bodean's BBQ, and to begin with will only open Wednesdays to Sundays for dinner.
If you ever wondered what the story behind the restaurant's name is, 'Mbare' in Sicilian dialect is an informal way to say hello to a friend, or to quickly make friends with a stranger.
Use it to greet fellow diners while anticipating Antipasti favourites such as Carpaccio Sea Bass, Burrata with Grilled Squash and Pesto, Bruschetta and Italian Cured Meats. Follow up its Sicilian street food specialties (Arancino and Calzone) with one of its stand-out pasta dishes: Cacio & Pepe, Fresh Porcini & Winter Truffle Risotto or Fresh Seafood Linguine.
To finish, just try and choose between MBARE's home made Tiramisu, Cannoli with Orange zest & Pistachio filling or MBARE Affogato – Espresso, Vanilla ice cream and Frangelico Hazelnut liqueur. We dare you.
