Local MP Florence Eshalomi to speak at Clapham Common MAC Annual Meeting

By Isabel Millett 10th Jan 2023

The local MP for Clapham will attend the Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee's upcoming annual meeting.

Vauxhall MP Florence Eshalomi will join key personnel from Lambeth Council, including cabinet member for Sustainable Development, Cllr Rezina Chowdhury, to speak with residents and answer questions about future plans for Clapham Common.

All local residents and users of Clapham Common are invited to the annual meeting, the seventeenth of its kind that Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee (CCMAC) has held.

The community group that works in partnership with Lambeth Council to manage Clapham Common, CCMAC will also be electing ten Community Representatives at the meeting, hosted at Omnibus Theatre on Thursday, 2 February.

For a two-year term running from February 2023 to February 2025, candidates for the Community Representatives role "must have the time available to make a meaningful contribution to the Committee's work," a spokesperson wrote.

This includes attendance at monthly meetings of the whole Committee (lasting no more than 2 hours), meetings every 1-2 months of working groups (each Committee member typically sits on one or two working groups), and email correspondence between meetings.

Members may also volunteer for activities on the Common, such as assisting with Bandstand concerts, litter picking, or community gardening.
