Man fighting for life in hospital after hit-and-run on Wandsworth Road

A man is in hospital fighting for his life after a suspected hit-and-run on Wandsworth Road.
Police were called to reports of a person found injured in Clapham just before 1.10am today (Tuesday, September 20).
A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
Officers, who attended with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance, believe the man sustained his injuries from a collision with a car while he was walking on Wandsworth Road.
Urgent enquiries are being made to trace the driver of the car which failed to stop at the scene.
Road closures are in place on Wandsworth Road and motorists are advised to find alternative routes while the suspected hit-and-run is investigated.
Any witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574. Alternatively, call 101 quoting CAD301/20Sep.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision in Lambeth.
"Police were called at 01:09hrs on Tuesday, 20 September to reports of a person found injured in Wandsworth Road, SW8.
"Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.
"A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. His next of kin have been informed.
"At this early stage we believe the pedestrian was involved in a collision with a car which failed to stop at the scene. Urgent enquiries are taking place to trace the driver.
