Police plea for witnesses to fatal hit and run in Clapham

A pedestrian was killed this week in a hit-and-run collision on Wandsworth Road.

The man, aged in his 40s, died at the scene in Lambeth late on Monday (March 20).

Police were called to the busy south London road by the London Ambulance Service at 10:49pm.

They are now urgently hunting the driver of the car, who failed to stop at the scene.

A Met spokesperson said: "Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. 

"The driver of the car did not stop at the scene. Urgent enquiries to trace it are ongoing.

"Road closures and a crime scene are in place.

Anyone with information, witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574 ref CAD 7741/20 Mar. Alternatively, call 101 quoting CAD 7741/20MAY23.
