A litter-ally rubbish Bank Holiday on Clapham Common

A petition which asks Lambeth Council to provide additional bins over summer has gained nearly 500 signatures since it was launched on Tuesday.

Councillor Tim Briggs updated Clapham Nub News and the organisers of the petition, Best of South West, on the position of Lambeth Council this morning.

In a Tweet Cllr Briggs said: "At the meeting of Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee (CCMAC) last night, after some pushback Lambeth Council officers agreed to go away and cost extra measures to deal with the excess litter, particularly on Fridays and bank holidays when at present there are no cleaning staff at the end of the day".

Can summer litter on Clapham Common go in the literal bin ? The answer looks like "Maybe".

Clapham Nub News will keep you posted on any and all changes.

If you live in Clapham, enjoy using Clapham Common, or simply loath litter, you can sign the petitionhere
