VE Kitchen: The hotspot to hot desk in Clapham
The hotspot to hot desk in Clapham
For permanent work-from-homers in Clapham and Battersea, the newly launched hot desking system at VEKitchen is worth commuting to.
Perks of working from home, though plentiful, can prove transient. The desk fashioned out of kitchen table is by the kettle and a mecca for productivity right up until the hammering or drilling or basement digging next door gets going. The wooden chair you sit on has leather detailing, not lumbar support, and the neighbour opposite – the ASOS addict who's back in the office five days a week – has listed you as her MyHermes safe place.
The alternative – to head to a nearby café – is riddled with its own complications. How often do you order another oat milk flat white? What if the WiFi is woeful? Is it obscenely rude to answer your phone?
VE Kitchen gets your quandary and with its recently launched hot desking system, life as a laptop squatter looks a great deal less stressful for people remote working in the Clapham and Battersea area.
Having initially launched on Deliveroo during lockdown, VE Kitchen now opens daily from 9am to 10pm (11pm Thursday-Saturday), serving 100% plant-based food and drinks from organic wines and beers to coffee, kombucha and beverages produced without using artificial chemical fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.
Its stunning setting (courtesy of interior designers Shaun Clarkson ID and artwork by renowned photographer Adrian Houston) coupled with a menu that's enticing to non-vegans and vegans alike made VE Kitchen a welcome addition to Northcote Road instantly.
For WFHers trying to fly the H, hot desking is now available from 9am to midday, and 3pm to 6pm. WiFi is free, there are USB ports aplenty and perhaps best of all, guests can turn up without a booking or reserve a table in advance. Say goodbye to carrying a bag full of electronics while balancing a boiling hot coffee as you frantically scan a packed café for a free table it transpires isn't there.
Head to VEKitchen's website to book a table (and salivate over the menu).
