Wandsworth council warn of car parking scams
Notices have been erected around the borough to warn drivers of a current car parking scam taking place.
Drivers are being warned to not pay for anyone else's parking, even if they are offered cash in return.
They are also being reminded that cards cannot be used at any of the pay and display machines.
If your card appears to have been taken by the machine, the council has warned, this may indicate you have been a victim of a scam and to contact your bank immediately.
They have also warned that Civil Enforcement Officers will never ask you for your card.
In order to pay for parking in the borough you should use the mobile app or contactless payment on the Pay and Display machine.
In an emergency call 999 or report a crime by calling 101 or online.
If you find you have been a victim of fraud you should contact Action Fraud.
Report any irregularity to Wandsworth Parking Team by telephoning 0208 871 6660 or email [email protected]
