Thursday: Breaking Up With Reality
Being performed live for the first time at The Bread & Roses Theatre tonight, Breaking Up With Reality combines spoken word, recorded soundscapes and music to explore how we break up with the past and build a new relationship with the future.
Described as a piece "about the psychological impact of isolation", catch it at the intimate 40-60 seat fringe theatre above The Bread & Roses Pub on its run 14-16th October.
"Profoundly touching… Such a thoughtful, eloquent theatrical experience… This show surprises me with its ability to bring me a sincere sense of hope"

When it comes to live music, Clapham is spoilt for choice on where to head. But none of our local venues can beat the track record for talent-spotting boasted by The Bread & Roses Pub. On Friday, pop in for a drink after dinner to catch Tom Poslett & Jo Griggs on stage at 9pm, followed by House Above The Sun at 9.30pm. House Above The Sun deal in beautifully constructed tightly wound guitar based epics that unfurl like the best of late seventies Television and Patti Smith, with a folk and Americana twist. Guitarist Tom Poslett's ever-expanding canon of songs dates back to his roots on the Bristol folk scene. In recent years, he and vocalist Jo Griggs have formed a unique partnership to become a writing and performing duo on the London scene and beyond, with a winning mix of Tom's accomplished guitar style; lyrical, quirky storytelling and Jo's soulful vocals. The annual Clapham Book Festival returns on Saturday after a pandemic-inflicted hiatus. Its shorter programme kicks off at 2pm with literary walks led by local authors Annemarie Neary and Julie Anderson. If you think you know all the rich literary history literally written around Clapham's roads already, these walks promise to share something new. At 5.30pm the multiple award-winning author who wrote the world famous War Horse, Michael Morpurgo, will be discussing his new book When Fishes Flew with local bestselling author Elizabeth Buchan at The Omnibus Theatre. At 7:30pm, Ben Macintyre, historian, biographer and columnist for The Times newspaper, will be discussing his book Agent Sonya and trading stories of legendary spies with local writer and broadcaster Simon Berthon.
