Clapham Junction station lift upgrades begin on Monday

Clapham Junction station will lose step-free access until March when lift maintenance work begins next week.

Passengers are being urged by Network Rail to double check their journey plans as they will not be able to rely on the lifts at Clapham Junction between Monday (October 18) and March 25, 2022.

The lift upgrades at Clapham Junction follow a high number of faults and failures.

Each lift will be worked on one at a time for a period of twelve days, and additional staff will be on hand at the affected lift passengers with heavy luggage.

A full schedule of maintenance can be found below with locations of lifts and what dates they will be unavailable.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "The much-needed work will improve reliability for passengers for years to come.

"Work will start on Monday 18 October, and to minimise the impact on passengers, only one lift will be out of service at a time.

"The works are expected to be completed by Friday 25 March 2022.

Passengers who require step-free access at Clapham Junction can contact South Western Railway's 24 hour dedicated assisted travel team on 0800 5282 100.

For journeys to and from London Victoria, passengers can contact Southern, and for journeys on the London Overground

Depending on the customer's journey, alternative routes will be offered.
