Maintenance work to upgrade the Grant Road lifts at Clapham Junction station begin today (Monday, October 18).
The lift closure is part of a six month project will ensure every platform at the station has a reliable lift, following a high number of faults and failures that have limited step-free access to and from Clapham Junction.
Each lift is being worked on one at a time, which means the maintenance work will only affect passengers on certain routes for a limited period of time during the full six months.
Maintenance work to the Grant Road lifts begins today and is scheduled to last twelve days, allowing step-free access at the Grant Road entrance/exit of Clapham Junction to resume on Friday, November 12.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "The much-needed work will improve reliability for passengers for years to come.
"Work will start on Monday 18 October, and to minimise the impact on passengers, only one lift will be out of service at a time.
"The works are expected to be completed by Friday 25 March 2022.
Passengers who require step-free access at Clapham Junction can contact South Western Railway's 24 hour dedicated assisted travel team on 0800 5282 100.
