Royal Trinity Hospice shortlisted for Outstanding Charity Retailer Award

Clapham's Royal Trinity Hospice is one of four charities whose retailers have been shortlisted for the Outstanding Charity Retailer Award, 2021.

Royal Trinity Hospice may be England's oldest hospice, but with shops that boast a savvy 21st century approach to retail, Royal Trinity has garnered such a loyal following of customers even Vogue has recognised its charity shops as among Britain's best.

The hospice, which has occupied buildings on Clapham Common North Side since 1899, operates two Trinity shops in Clapham and 20 others across the capital city. Its stated retail mission is "to be London's answer to sustainable fashion" and before the first lockdown Royal Trinity's shops contributed over £5.5 million towards funding free palliative and end of life care for over 2,500 Londoners every year.

At the same time the Charity Retail Association announced Royal Trinity's spot on the Outstanding Charity Retailer Award shortlist, its Ecommerce Volunteer, Casey Blaine, was one of just three people shortlisted for the Volunteer Award.

Announcing the final contenders in all 13 categories yesterday (Tuesday August 17), the Charity Retail Association said: "As in previous years, the standard of entries was extremely high and we received a tremendous number of nominations for this year's awards.

"The difference this year was seen in the motivation of everyone to think outside the box and be innovative in creating the future of charity retail.

"The standards across all nominations were at a new level of excellence and show exciting times ahead."

The final award winners will be announced during a ceremony in Nottingham on Thursday September 9. Alongside the 13 pre-announced categories, a further two categories will have winners announced on the night without a shortlist: Most Unusual Item Donated and Most Valuable Item sold.

Congratulations to the whole team at Royal Trinity Hospice, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you on the 9th.
