Live music returns to The Sun in Clapham Old Town

Lurching from one lockdown to another has left many pubs, bars and restaurants in London struggling to stay afloat, with favoured local haunts closing all across Clapham.

In Clapham Old Town, two of three neighbouring venues have permanently closed, with The Rectory pub one of the first independents to close its doors, followed in quick succession by neighbouring bar The Yard which announced in August it wouldn't re-open.

While at least one local venue hopes new strategies like a 'Covid charge' on customer bills will help the post-pandemic recovery, others around town are slowly but surely re-introducing the popular, pre-pandemic events that they and the government are now confident can be held safely.

The Sun pub, the third of the Clapham Old Town trio that after The Rectory and The Yard closures is now the last man standing, has chosen the latter.

We go for the cosy atmosphere inside, same as the bustling beer garden outside - no matter the day, month, year, The Sun is that trusted local pub for all seasons.

But all that being said, Clapham has missed The Sun's live music Thursdays and Nub News is delighted to announce their return.

As of this evening (September 2), a roster of local artists will be at 47 Old Town on Thursdays, performing the gig only those really in the know locals are aware of.

Head to The Sun to be one of them. The music starts at 8pm.
