No arrests have been made after a man was stabbed on Balham High Road last night during a suspected robbery.

Police confirmed that a 27-year-old was taken to hospital, but said that his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The police were called at 11.30am and found a man who had been stabbed and administered first aid.

An ambulance was then called before he was taken to the hospital.

Resultingly, the A24 Balham High Road was closed in both directions.

A statement from the Met Police said: "Police were called at 23:34hrs on Tuesday, 24 August to reports of a suspected robbery on Balham High Road, SW12.

"Officers attended and found a man suffering from a stab injury. They immediately provided first aid.

"The 27-year-old man was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A crime scene remains in place and the road is partially closed to traffic.

"There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

"Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference Cad 8134/24Aug."
